Carrie Underwood new hit song titled "Something in the Water" from album "Greatest Hits: Decade # 1" creates a fabricated rumored conflict with atheists and others within both industries of pop and country over the central Christian belief of their faith in Jesus Christ and the significance of rebirth. No creditable sources emerge yet.
The lyrics that first ignited sparks to the controversy are the following:
He said, "I've been where you've been before.
Down every hallway's a slamming door.
No way out, no one to come and save me.
Wasting a life that the Good Lord gave me.
Then somebody said what I'm saying to you,
Opened my eyes and told me the truth."
They said, "Just a little faith, it'll all get better."
So I followed that preacher man down to the river and now I'm changed
And now I'm stronger
There must've been something in the water
Oh, there must've been something in the water
The Consertative Post cites Underwoods response showing no chance of retreating, but pushing ahead to another song about God,
"I'm not the first person to sing about God, Jesus, faith [or] any of that, and I won't be the last. And it won't be the last for me, either. If you don't like it, change the channel."
She further comments on the number 1 hit song:
Something in the Water is so inspirational. It's joyous! I can't help but smile when I hear it. I hope it has the same effect on everyone who listens to it. It's an uplifting song about changing your life and having that 'aha moment' to waking up and your life being different from that moment forward.
Other people from facebook justify the song declaring "Rappers can sing about Big booty hoes... Carrie can sing about our Lord." Or like Underwood said likewise change the channel.
Nonetheless, it questioned what Underwood is actually responding to as still the actually controversy is hidden. Feel free to include any sources that give the controversy merit.
