Benedict Cumberbatch and his partner have just gotten a visit from the stork.
Sophie Hunter, the actor and theater director currently engaged to the "Sherlock" and "Imitation Game" star, is pregnant, a source revealed to Page Six on Wednesday.
Said the source:
"Sophie is a few months along, and both she and Benedict are very excited about it. They are also quietly planning to marry in early spring."
"I am delighted to confirm that Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are expecting their first child. They are both over the moon."
According to the Daily Mail, the couple was spotted on the red carpet at the Palm Springs International Film Festival - only, in every photo, Hunter is blocking her stomach in some form or fashion. Usually, with her hand or her purse.
That explains a lot- it seems the couple were trying to keep their pregnancy news as quiet as possible.
Previously, Cumberbatch had said that he wanted to pump the brakes on his marriage. Not because of any relationship problems, but because right now his career has to come first.
Cumberbatch said to Pop Sugar: "One thing at a time. I'm playing Sherlock now - just about to start - so my main focus is going to be on that."
Along with "Sherlock," Cumberbatch is also starring in three future biopics- films about photographer Eadweard Muybridge, gangster Whitey Bulger and explorer Percival Fawcett. As well, he's also playing Shere Khan in a future "Jungle Book" film, and joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Strange- first in "Doctor Strange," and then certainly future films to follow.
His schedule's insanely busy- and with a baby on the way, it's about to get busier than he could possibly imagine.
But if anyone could handle that kind of stress, it's Benedict Cumberbatch.
Check back soon for the latest on Benedict Cumberbatch- both his films and his future marriage and child.
