Sia's music video for the song "Elastic Heart" is out and it features actor Shia LaBeouf with dancer Maddie Ziegler in a "dance-fight." The video was directed by Daniel Askill.
The singer Sia works with "Dance Moms" star Maddie Ziegler once again for the video of "Elastic Heart," and this time, LaBeouf has been added to the mix, resulting in a "strange" video, as described by Billboard.
According to Billboard, "Ziegler is back in her nude body suit and blonde bob, but she's been transported out of her deserted apartment and into a giant metallic cage, with a shirtless, buff, LaBeouf pitted against her." Both are clad in dirty clothing, making them look like prisoners, Sydney Morning Herald explains.
In the video, Ziegler and LaBeouf seem to engage in a "dance-fight," along with making "wildly fantastic facial expressions," adds Billboard.
IB Times also talks about Ziegler beating up LaBeouf, and even biting the actor at one point.
As the video concludes, Ziegler is seen escaping the cage, leaving LaBeouf inside, wanting to escape but seemingly unable to do so despite Ziegler trying to her. Billboard describes the last 45 minutes of the music video as "wordless, music-free and downright affecting."
Though the song is not a new one, with it being featured in 2012 as part of "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" Soundtrack, it is the latest single off Sia's "1000 Forms of Fear" album. The song featured Weeknd and Diplo in the "Hunger Games: Catching Fire" version.
Sia is expected to perform the song in "Saturday Night Live" on January 17, where Ziegler will also make an appearance. Before the video came out, Sia teased about it on YouTube while Abby Lee Miller, Ziegler's coach for "Dance Moms," posted about it on Instagram. IB Times mentions Miller posting on Instagram, "Proud that my student @maddieziegler is doing amazing work with brilliant people."
Before "Elastic Heart," Ziegler has been in the video for Sia's song "Chandelier," which is reported to have over 432 million videos on SiaVEVO's YouTube channel, reports IB Times.
Though "Elastic Heart" is listed as a break-up song, Sydney Morning Herald says that the video's meaning could be interpreted in different ways. The site says it could be about growing up or the pains of love. YouTube comments show viewers having their different interpretations as well.
