On the January 6 episode of "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman dropped by to promote her new film, "Paddington." In the course of the interview, things suddenly turn awkward for host Jimmy Fallon as Kidman recalls how they first met years ago at Fallon's apartment through a mutual friend, albeit with two different memories of the first meeting.
CNN points that both Fallon and Kidman had not seen each other since their first meeting. Urging Fallon to tell his side of the story, the host said he remembered receiving a call from a friend named Rick who told him Nicole Kidman wants to meet him. Fallon recalls, "Maybe to be in 'Bewitched' or something like that."
Kidman, who was single at the time of their meeting, then said, "I just remember that I liked you." But quickly said, "Not now, I'm married now."
In utter disbelief, Fallon shouted, "Did I date Nicole Kidman?!"
Kidman responded saying, "I went there and you were in a baseball cap, and like, nothing. And you wouldn't talk. You didn't say anything. You were like hey. And I was like, okay, hmm. And then you put a video game on or something and I was like, this is so bad."
In its report about the interview, Sydney Morning Herald said, "at this point of the interview, Fallon collapsed behind his desk, leaving Kidman to turn to the audience and say, "It was bad."
Kidman then recalled Fallon had worn sweat pants and a baseball cap to the unexpected date and that the "Tonight Show" host served brie cheese, corn chips and leftover Chinese food.
She later said that Fallon "did not talk at all" and that after an hour and a half through the date, she said, "I thought he has no interest. This is so embarrassing. Then I left and went, okay, no chemistry. And then I went, maybe he's gay."
An utterly shocked Fallon confessed that he was "nervous" and that he "had no clue at all."
Sydney Morning Herald speculates that the date happened sometime in 2004, as "Bewitched" was filmed on that year and released in 2005. Kidman went on to marry country star Keith Urban in 2006, and Fallon married film producer Nancy Juvonen in 2007.
