Just when you thought the Jodi Arias trial couldn't get any more sensational, something has to come along to send the Jodi Arias Obsession Levels through the roof. And something has- new transcripts from the trial, where Arias faces the death penalty for the murder of her boyfriend, Travis Alexander, have just been released.
AZCentral has the transcripts, between Arias and her attorney, Jennifer Willmott. They're some seriously intense stuff.
Willmott: "And did you kill Travis Alexander?"
Arias: "Yes."
Willmott "When is the first time that you admitted that to anyone?"
Arias: "In 2010."
Willmott: "This happened in 2008, didn't it?"
Arias: "Yes."
Willmott: "Why did it take you two years to admit that ... that you did it?"
Arias: "It took me that long to be able to admit to myself that -- that I did it."
Back in 2013, Arias was found guilty of murdering her boyfriend, Travis Alexander, in the first degree. But there was an issue with the trial- the jury couldn't decide whether Alexander deserved life in prison or the death penalty, and since then the trial has lingered on.
According to ABC News, this testimony was initially conducted in secret. Potentially, because Arias was "skittish" about giving such a revealing testimony in public, and potentially because those in charge of the trial were skittish about the kind of publicity the trial would recieve from such an intense public testimony.
Although it's worth noting that the public release of said testimony is still pretty intense.
As well, the Examiner calls into question the use of money in the trial- that the state of Arizona is funding the case for Arias's defense (so far, to a sum of nearly $3 million), and that Arias is also collecting money online. Money that, presumably, she doesn't need, considering the amount of money the state's giving her
We'll see where the case heads in the future. But given the current testimony, it's unlikely that the media hype around Jodi Arias is likely to die down anytime soon.
