The Jodi Arias trial continues- when last we heard, the woman convicted of killing her ex-boyfriend, Travis Alexander, was unsure of what sentence she would be recieving.
Now, it's clear the prosecutors are moving to give Arias the death sentence, but the jury's become the issue.
ABC reports that nearly 100 of the 300 potential jurors that would be deciding Arias's sentence were dismissed by the judge; apparently, these jurors who were kicked out had been overly influenced by the massive media coverage of Arias and the slaying of her ex.
According to ABC, this is the jury's (and the prosecution's, mostly) last attempt at sticking Arias with the death sentence. If she isn't given that punishment by the end of this jury session, otherwise Arias will be given life in prison and that will be the end of it.
Latin Post adds an update to the story- apparently, more than half of the jurors have been removed from the running, and now only 133 remain. Hopefully, among these 133 are enough to give Arias a fair sentencing.
The jury needs to be selected by October 20, at which point the trial should last from six to eight weeks.
The Epoch Times reports that while media coverage of the Arias case has been massive, the upcoming trial will not be televised nearly as much, and thus media hype may drop down.
They also include a quote from criminal defense lawyer Dwane Cates about the case's media attention:
"It wasn't really until Jodi took the stand last time that it turned into a circus and built into a frenzy."
But eventually this will all be over, and justice (or some form of justice) will hopefully have been served.
Check back soon for the latest on the Jodi Arias trial and her eventual sentencing.
