Aaron Hernandez Trial Subjective of Racial, Tattoo Related Queries

Aaron Hernandez, a 25 - year old American football tight end will start his trial after the selection of the Jury. The athlete made news when on August 22, 2013, Hernandez was charged for the murder of Odin Lloyd. Lloyd was a semipro football player and dated the sister of Hernandez' fiancé. Hernandez' home surveillance camera captured him walking with a gun. The gun was said to be used for the murder. However, it was not found.

As of the moment, the queries in the survey questionnaire for the possible jury on this case are making headlines. This survey questionnaire is part of the 1st phase of selection. According to myfoxboston, there were questions about race, tattoos, New England Patriots and marijuana among many others. They were asked if the fact the Hernandez is Hispanic makes them feel that he is guilty of the charges. Another question was about his tattoo and if they think he is more likely to commit the crime because of it.

For some, these are outrageous questions and should not be asked to the possible jurors. However, to ensure that one will have an unbiased decision over the case, it seems fair to ask such.

The selection does not stop there. The next phase would mean that there will be an individual questioning with the prospective jurors. Hopefully, the interview will be able to capture the jurors' sincerity on the case.

Once selected, it is said that the jury will visit Hernandez' home. Prosecutors are suggesting that Hernandez' trophy case will be hidden as it may impress the jury. However, Hernandez' lawyers are likely to display the athlete's recognitions. They say that the trial is about the truth and the trophies are the truth in his residence. With this, it is crucial that the jurors to be selected for Aaron's Hernandez trial should be evenhanded.
