New Android 5.1 Update For Nexus 5, Nexus 7 and More Release this February with Killer Bug Features, Silent Mode Absent

By

Google's Android 5.0 Lollipop update has been associated with a number of issues for the past couple of months. In response, the company has released two additional updates: the Android 5.0.1 and the Android 5.0.2. However, both versions are still plagued with issues. User complaints did not stop thus the possibility of an Android 5.1 version.

According to Christian Today, Google may be planning on releasing the Android 5.1 around the last week of February. If everything falls into place then the transition should be completed by summer. Just like other Android OS updates, Google's Nexus line will be first in line to receive the update. Google Play Edition devices could follow along with other bands.

More importantly, it appears that Google plans on releasing the Android 5.1 OS to solve the app termination bug affecting many upgraded devices. Likewise, although the Android 5.0.1 and the Android 5.0.2 updates were launched to solve the original Lollipop issues, users still complain about wireless connectivity and WiFi networks among others. Android 5.1 seeks to address this including the absence of the Silent Mode without vibrate option.

Nonetheless, a Reddit thread claims that people may still not see the Silent Mode function on the upcoming 5.1 According to the original poster, Google may not include the feature and the team behind the decision should be "fired." In the words of the user, the team should be: "moved as far away from Android as possible."

There were a number of users who agree with the complaints of the original poster. Some claim that the Silent mode without vibrate option is such as basic function it should not have been taken out. Additionally, millions of Android users are familiar with the feature thus the confusion over why Google decided to take out it in Lollipop. Previously, Google has been including toggle options in every Android update allowing people to control volume functions. In Android 5.0, the company decided to introduce something new allowing people to choose their notifications more particularly.

Google has not released the official details of the reported 5.1 update.
