"Sleepy Hollow" episode 14 will be very intense as the network tries to change the show to prevent it from appearing overserialized.
Episode 14, "Kali Yuga," will be airing on January 26, and according to Hollywood Hills, it will be an intense one. The story revolves around Abbie (Nicole Beharie), Jenny (Lyndie Greenwood), and Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) helping Nick Hawley (Matt Barr) deal with a woman from his past.
The malicious demon, who was Hawley's childhood caretaker, will be robbing Theodore Knox's estate, says Ecumenical News.
Meanwhile Captain Frank Irving (Orlando Jones) tries to adjust to his new life. Katia Winter and John Noble will also appear on the episode to reprise their roles as Katrina Crane and Henry Parish.
The episode is pivotal to trying to reclaim show ratings. Despite the show's high ratings on its first season, the numbers have gone down with some critics saying that the show's quality has suffered. However, executives would like viewers to know that they are aware of the issue and are working on it, starting by making the show more "episodic in nature."
Christian Post reports that FOX chairman and CEO Dana Walden agreed that the show has gotten "a little overserialized this past season." In a winter TV press tour, Walden confirmed that after their diagnostic process midseason, they are "trying to return the fun to it a little bit" and give each episode a closure.
"It's very difficult on a show like this to hit the exact right balance of procedural storytelling and ongoing character relationships and the mythology," Walden revealed. Walden also said that they will be working on calibrating the show after figuring out what elements work and what do not.
As for whether the show will come back for a third season, no confirmation has been made yet. "We really love the show. We love Tom Mison and Nicole Beharie-they have fantastic chemistry. We feel like it's a really unique series and I'm hopeful it will come back," says Walden.
