Fast and Furious star Tyrese Gibson is not only giving a hint, he's definitely all out in lobbying that he wants to put a ring and be the next Green Lantern. Apparently, the reboot of this DC Comics' creation will have another go in 2020 with no clue if Ryan Reynolds will reprise his role or somebody else will take his place.
It's five years from now and yet the Transformers actor is prepping to at least secure the role or give ideas if he becomes the one. So far, he uses his own Instragram to post his Green Lantern-ish images and even an ad that challenges graphic artist to create designs for him.
"DETERMINED!!!!!! 20|20 I am fully committed to suiting up for this adventure" - @Tyrese #GL "In brightest day, in blackest night, No evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil's might, Beware my power, Green Lantern's light!!!" Tyrese said on Instagram.
In 2011 Reynolds found love in Green Lantern in the person of his leading lady turned wife Blake Lively, but not moviegoers' nod. It got $231 in the box office and earned negative reviews. In the file interview of Empire, Gibson can assume that Reynolds is not a solid rival at this point. The Canadian actor who once a People's Sexiest Man Alive expressed his interest to put back the green ring was minimal.
"It's just that... working on Green Lantern, I saw how difficult it is to make that concept palatable, and how confused it all can be when you don't really know exactly where you're going with it or you don't really know how to access that world properly - that world comic book fans have been accessing for decades and falling in love with," Reynolds said. "So at this point I have very little interest in joining that kind of world. But, you know, a great script and a good director can always turn that around."
Meanwhile, Gibson's co- Fast and the Furious star Gal Gadot already sealed her Wonder Woman role and will appear in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Who knows these two will work together for Justice League.
