The "Indiana Jones" film franchise was one of the blockbuster films in the 80s. Previously owned by Lucas Films, the film franchise became a pop culture and it was adopted in video games, action toys and even an amusement park.
Since Walt Disney has acquired Lucas Films last 2012, it is just a matter of time before Disney starts to make plans in order to recoup their investment. This leads to several revival and spin-offs of the works and movies of Lucas Films, including Indiana Jones.
According to Movie Fone, there was a report that Walt Disney Studio has acquired the rights to the Indiana Jones franchise from Paramount last 2013. They were also eager to reboot or remake the film franchise. Reports also points out that Disney Studios eyes Chris Pratt to lead as Dr. Henry Walton "Indiana" Jones, Jr. in his new adventures.
Chris Pratt will be the perfect actor to put on the hat and whip of Indiana Jones according to Fansided considering that Pratt have several films and projects that will give him the edge over the role. His role in NBC's "Parks and Recreation" proved that he can be comedic and lovable. The recent success of Guardians of the Galaxy also allowed Pratt to show that he can get rough and handle the death defying actions in "Indiana Jones".
Disney's CEO Robert Iger also agreed that their company is contemplating on pushing for the reboot of "Indiana Jones", according to Screen Rant, even though there are no official statements with regard to their plan. Rumors were also reported that the "Indiana Jones" franchise can be renewed like what they were doing in James Bond. Different actors can take up the role as Dr. Henry Jones, Jr. unfolds new adventures.
The same report also suggests that the "Indiana Jones" reboot may happen on 2018 since Disney Chairman Alan Horn have stated earlier that Dr. Jones' adventrues won't be happening anywhere near 2016 and 2017. Disney has yet to release an official statement for this.
"Indiana Jones" may not see any reboot anytime soon but fans of the film franchise may expect Disney to deliver a fresh approach in the adventures of Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones, Jr.
