Prince Andrew Speaks On Sex Abuse Claims, Says He is "focused on work"; Sex Offender Jeffrey Epstein Gathering Evidence?

By

Prince Andrew has finally addressed the sex abuse claims made by Virginia Roberts, who claimed to have had intercourse with the Duke of York under orders from sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Prince Andrew reaffirmed the earlier statement made by the Buckingham Palace that he was not involved in any sexual encounters with an underage.

Prince Andrew's visit to Davos, Switzerland, was made more remarkable by the monarch finally speaking up about his name being mentioned in a sexual abuse scandal, CNN reports. According to the site, on Thursday, the Duke of York spoke at the World Economic Forum to address the matter briefly, and only to reiterate what the Buckingham Palace has already stated earlier this month.

The Duke of York made the statement in front of "world and business leaders," Reuters adds.

Furthermore, Prince Andrew said, "My focus is on my work."

Buckingham Palace's statement denied any allegations made by Roberts, known as Jane Doe No. 3 in an invitation for an interview sent to the prince. Buckingham Palace denied the interview, which apparently insulted Roberts.

In her statement, Roberts revealed intimate detail about their sexual encounter, even mentioning that Epstein seemed to be gathering information about Prince Andrew, who Epstein has referred to as a "major prince."

Roberts' claim is backed up by a photo of her and the prince in 2001. As described by Time, "The photograph shows Prince Andrew with his arm wrapped around the bare midriff of Virginia Roberts, the self-described 'sex slave.'"

Prince Andrew is the second son of Queen Elizabeth II and brother of Prince Charles.

Roberts claims that one of three sexual encounters with Prince Andrew included an orgy with Epstein, who has pleaded guilty to solicitation of prostitution as well as procurement of a minor for prostitution back in 2007.

Roberts, joined by three other women, is working to have the U.S. federal court reexamine Epstein's state plea deal.

This is not the first time the prince's name has been involved in bad news, as he has allegedly been accused of "leading a lavish lifestyle at taxpayers' expense" in recent years. Prince Andrew gave up being Britain's roving trade ambassador in 2008 because of being linked with Epstein, who went to prison for child sex offences.
