The 2015 Critics' Choice Awards held at Hollywood Palladium, Los Angeles, had host Michael Strahan in different character costumes and also ripping his pants a la "Magic Mike XXL."
Things were interesting at the 2015 Critics' Choice Awards from the moment it started, and that's owing to Strahan's performance, IB Times reports. Strahan kicked off the awards show "with a group of male dancers who ripped their clothes off in a nod to the movie."
As it was happening, viewers took to Twitter to express their opinions on Strahan's antics.
Though the host did not refer much about the upcoming "Magic Mike XXL," he did make another nod at it before announcing the presenters for the category Best Ensemble Cast. Before ripping off his pants, Strahan said, "You know I don't have many lines, but who needs lines when you have legs like this?"
Strahan's "show" had the audience, including Jessica Chastain, laughing, but apparently actor Michael Keaton was not finding it comfortable. Keaton's film, "Birdman," won for the award right after Strahan's number.
Keaton was not shy about expressing his discomfort as well, as he opened his speech by saying mentioning how uncomfortable the opening had been.
Apart from Strahan's nod to his movie, he also wore several costumes while proceeding to do his duties as show host. Us Magazine shares, "As the evening went on, the former NFL star surprised the audience when he walked out onto the stage dressed as Angelina Jolie in 'Maleficent.'"
Strahan joked that he was "putting the male into 'Maleficent.'"
Jolie, who was in the audience, "shouted enthusiastically" to express her love for the costume.
Moreover, Strahan also wore an outfit for Sir Ian McKellen's Gandalf and a lobby boy costume for Zero Moustafa's role.
Once the host was done with his costume changes, he joined other stars like Reese Witherspoon for selfies courtesy off the 360i tablets given out at each table.
In other "Magic Mike XXL" related news, Joe Manganiello of the movie is confirmed to be engaged with actress Sofia Vergara. Coincidentally, Design & Trend mentions Vergara gushing about Manganiello in a September appearance in "Live! With Kelly and Michael," where Strahan co-hosts.
"He's a great guy, he's very funny. And he's very entertaining which is very important to me because I need to be with somebody that knows how to have fun because I like to have fun," Vergara said at the time.
