Tomorrow, "Scandal" returns after several long, Olivia Pope-less months (the ABC thriller's fall finale aired all the way back on November 20). And that fall finale aired on a huge cliffhanger- Olivia was abducted, and we have no idea why, or who nabbed her. Luckily, there are some clues to tide us over until tomorrow's new episode.
If you're worried about Olivia, things might not be as dire as they seem- according to a piece in MStarz, the first episode will reveal just what happened to her. and it won't be as bad as you think... maybe.
"I think you'll find her whereabouts alternately shocking and hilarious," claims an insider in the Mstarz piece.
According to Shonda Rhimes, the new episode will pick up exactly where the last one left off. In fact, it might even pick up before that. "No time will have lapsed," Rhimes, the show's creator, explained. "And negative time will have lapsed." By negative time, we can only assume that the new episode will pick up during the timeline of the last one.
Rhimes later elaborated on just what's in store for "Scandal" obsessors in the midseason premiere. "We're taking Olivia to a place that she hasn't been before. We are growing Olivia in a different direction. And we are growing the show in the direction that we've been headed towards for a while. It's going to be an interesting left turn for the audience."
There are also a few clues in the official synopsis for tomorrow's episode.
This synopsis hints at the same question we've all been asking- "exactly what happened when Jake went to the bedroom? Who took Olivia and where did she go?"
And there's some new information contained within- "the fight of Olivia's life will begin on the January return of 'Scandal."
Will Olivia have to fight for her life? Or will it be "hilarious," like some suggest? Well, we'll find out tomorrow, when "Scandal" rides in to finish up its fourth season.
