New "Code Name S.T.E.A.M" 3DS Demo Available for Download on Nintendo eShop; Two New Missions, Maps All Revealed

By

Nintendo just launched a HUGE surprise for Nintendo 3DS owners. The upcoming game "Code Name S.T.E.A.M.," which is set to release on March 13th, has just brought out a free demo in the Nintendo eShop. The demo, obviously, is just a small portion of the game, but there's one especially inviting factor- any medals and sub weapons earned in the demo will be transferred to the full game. If you buy the full game, of course.

"Code Name S.T.E.A.M." is a turn-based action/strategy game for the Nintendo 3DS. But it's got a twist- the game is set in a steampunk world where you can play as (and alongside) historical figures. Nintendo has revealed that the four main characters are John Henry, Henry Fleming, Lion and Tiger Lily. Those four names will form a strike team and will fight evil in turn-based combat- all under the command of their leader, Abraham Lincoln.

Yeah, it sounds weird, but the good kind of weird. The "Abraham Lincoln with a steampunk death squad" kind of weird.

Nintendo has also revealed that the demo includes two missions and four maps- all of them set in London. As well, the game was designed by Intelligent Systems, the same developer behind the massively successful (and critically acclaimed) "Fire Emblem" franchise. That's got to be a huge selling point.

However, not all is perfect in "Code Name S.T.E.A.M." TechnoBuffalo is reporting that many users are unsatisfied with one particular portion of the demo. Apparently, the enemy's turn takes an enormous amount of time, and can't be skipped or sped up. Meaning that after you've carefully planned out your own move, you'll be sitting and waiting in boredom until you're next turn. Hopefully Intelligent Systems can have that fixed up by the time the game's released in March.
