"Iron Man 4" has been a hot topic for the past couple of days among Marvel fans. The movie is still years away from release and there's been a lot of talk on Robert Downey Jr.'s position with Marvel Studios.

There were speculations that Robert Downey Jr. won't be returning to the Iron Man film franchise in its next movie. Rumor has it that the recent success of the Avengers and Iron Man film franchises gave Downey a lot of power in bargaining his contract with Marvel Studios.

While Robert Downey Jr. was interviewed recently with his participation in the upcoming "Captain America: Civil War" film, the actor exposed some details on his negotiations with Marvel. In the said interview, he said that he was convinced to add another movie to his contract. It took the President of Production for Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, to talk to Robert Downey Jr. so that "Civil War" can happen. The actor detailed that his original contract is only for 3 Avenger movies and "Captain America: Civil War" movies is not included in it.

Fans of the comic book will know that the "Civil War" arc will not happen without Tony Stark. That is why, according to the report, the president of production for Marvel Studios talked to Robert Downey Jr. in order to make upcoming "Captain America: Civil War" film happen. Reportedly, Downey appreciated the offer and mentioned that it's nice to feel needed. The reports added that this may be the reason why the actor won't be signing any long-term deals with Marvel Studios soon.

Robert Downey Jr. was also interviewed in the Letterman's show and he may have hinted then that he may not be in with "Iron Man 4". According to a report, Downey mentioned that "There's no plans for an Iron Man 4. There's no script for Iron Man 4, but they do have a plan and I think they're going to announce it...they're very secretive about it." He even added in the end that "I'm going to do other stuff with Marvel. I'm still going to be involved with Marvel and there's gonna be plenty of fun stuff to happen."

Now this leads fans to speculate that his involvement with "Iron Man" film franchise may be close to its end considering that it he already has a lot of Marvel projects such as the upcoming "Avengers: Age of Ultron", "Captain America: Civil War" and the rumored "Avengers: Infinity Wars Part 1".

Once Robert Downey Jr. puts his Iron Man suit to rest, Marvel should start looking for a good actor to take the role of Tony Stark. Ty Simpkins is a popular contender that will don the iron suit in the future "Iron Man 4" movie. Reports state that the fourth movie in the "Iron Man" film franchise will begin its production around 2017 and 2018. Ty would have been 16 or 17 at that time and mature enough to take the role of the billionaire-playboy Tony Stark.

"Iron Man 4" is still a few years away from production and there may be a lot of changes in the production of the Iron Man film franchise. Stay in tune for our future updates on Marvel's direction in its superhero movie franchise.
