In the wake of the recently released trailer to preview Game of Thrones season 5, news on the Winds of Winter release date has also emerged that the sixth installment to George R.R. Martin's 'A Song of Ice and Fire' book series will not be published this year.
Jane Johnson, Martin's publisher at HarperCollins announced that the ardent readers will not be able to grab their copy of the sequel to A Dance With Dragons published way back in 2011 this year as online rumors have been suggesting to no end.
Johnson reportedly stated that she has no information on the matter. "These are increasingly complex books and require immense amount of concentration to write Fans really ought to appreciate that the length of these monsters is equivalent to two or three novels by other writers."
However, fans can get a hold of a new illustrated edition of three previously anthologized novellas such as The Hedge Knight, The Sworn Sword and The Mystery Knight that will hit the shelves this coming October.
This prequel trilogy entitled, 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms', takes place a hundred years before A Song of Ice and Fire and the long reign of the Targaryens in Westeros.
"The novellas are illustrated in black and white line drawings throughout by Gary Gianni in classic style," Johnson revealed. "They give fascinating insights into the ongoing story, from the point of view of Ser Duncan the Tall, a hedge knight, and his squire Egg-whom may be rather more than he first seems."
Following this recent reveal, a new report claims that Winds of Winter now sees 2016 release date, however, that is the closest and easiest guess anyone could have in mind at this point in time.
In the meantime, readers and couch potatoes alike can satisfy their cravings for their favorite characters in the Seven Kingdoms when Game of Thrones season 5 premieres on April 12.
