‘Apotheon’ Releases on PS4 for Free via Playstation Plus; Game Features Ancient Mythological Greek in 2D Bloodbath

By

As if there isn't enough games currently featuring Greek history, mythology and crimsoned carnage, video game developer Alientrap announced the release of their current creation that would feature nearly everything already featured by games involving almost anything ancient Greece.

"Apotheon" would revolve around Nikandreos' journey at Mt. Olympus. Being the last hope for humanity, Nikandreos would have to do battle with his enemies in grand halls named after ancient Greek divinities like Leto's twins Artemis (Goddess of the Moon) and Apollo (God of the Sun). The player would direct Nikandreos in searching for treasures and meet a variety of characters from the bronze-age.

Perhaps what separates "Apotheon" from earlier Greek mythology based games would be its effort to really make the single player game stick with the facts. The game would feature excerpts from Greek classics while the games protagonist disembowels his enemies. However, the players would also have the option of going against their friends, and check how the would fair within the ranks of heroes, through the multi-player feature.

The story would begin with Hera who unreasonably overthrew her husband and in a fit of rage, would commit murderous mayhem towards humans. From then on, the player would guide Nikandreos in his journey as he would climb Mt. Olympus and gain absolution.

The hack and slash game would come free for subscribers of the Playstation Plus for PS4 for the month of February. However unlike the other free games released for PS4, "Apotheon" would be in an artistic 2D representation of ancient Greece.

The game would be released on Feb. 03rd through Steam and PSN. Although the game would be free for Playstation Plus, those who have not subscribed to this feature could still purchase the game on its regular price of US$15.

Meanwhile, other games had also set their release on the same date. Among these games would be "Game of Thrones Episode 2: The Lost Lords" and "Spongebob HeroPants."
