Game developer Crystal Dynamics has recently released explosive reveals on Rise of the Tomb Raider starring a traumatized Lara Croft from her last dangerous expedition across Yamatai.
The latest edition of Game Informer magazine published the new details describing how Lara is up fighting not just against hazards brought about by forces of nature but also struggling a personal battle that stemmed from her last adventure.
Players are said to survive storms, avalanches, wolves, grizzly bears and other natural disasters in the snowy region of Russia. The gamers will be taken to unique settings across the world cited by Game Informer as dusty sandscapes, dense forersts, and underwater caverns.
Gamespot reported that Rise of the Tomb Raider takes place a year following the prequel's cursed quest and players can try on Lara's shoes as she embarks on her new adventure to seek for answers of a luring ancient lore that speaks of immortality that can be found in the mythical city of Kitezhm in Siberia.
"People think she's crazier than she is," creative director Noah Hughes revealed.
"If you came back (from Yamatai) and started talking about an immortal being and a secret sun-worshipping cult, that's a tough pill to swallow. So Lara feels like an outsider in the real world. Her next expedition is a way of dealing with the trauma she's been through, but it's also a way of finding peace by chasing any shred of evidence that what she saw was real."
The Xbox One exclusive release of 'Rise of the Tomb Raider' also features design structure that is familiarly known to the video gamers as 'Metroidvania.'
"We love that game structure, I think the most important thing to us is really to live up to that promise of tomb-raiding, and make sure that - as much as this is a game about traversal, exploration and combat - it's also very much about tombs and puzzle solving," said Hughes.
Published by Microsoft studios, Rise of the Tomb Raider becomes available as timed exclusive for Xbox One and Xbox 360 players this Christmas season 2015, and possibly released on PS4 and PC later.
