"Iron Man 4" is still a hot topic among Marvel fans since rumors broke that Robert Downey Jr. will no longer reprise his role as Tony Stark. However, Downey's recent interviews may have indicated that he is still interested to continue in portraying the billionaire playboy. The fourth film in the Iron Man franchise may get to see an Iron Monger as a returning old nemesis.
A recent report indicates that there are several issues revolving in "Iron Man 4". First is whether there will indeed be a fourth film in the Iron Man franchise and the other equally important issues is whether Robert Downey Jr. will reprise his role as Tony Stark.
Rumors that Robert Downey Jr. will put to rest his Iron suit started when he was interviewed in the Letterman's show where he mentioned that "There's no plan for an Iron Man 4," things also got vague when Downey said that he is going to do "other stuff with Marvel."
Still, there are recent reports that indicate Robert Downey's involvement in the upcoming film. In his appearance in "The Ellen DeGeneres Show", Robert Downey Jr. indicated that there is a strong possibility that an "Iron Man 4" is on the negotiating table according to a source. He also said that he will be participating in the upcoming film.
In all of these rumors, Robert Downey Jr. found support from his co-actor in "The Judge" film. Robert Duvall advised Downey not to give up his role as Tony Stark in the Iron Man franchise. Marvel Cinematic Universe has seen a lot of success with Downey as Tony Stark and it will never be the same if he is no longer a part of it.
In other news, report states that "The Iron Monger" may get back in the future "Iron Man 4". Jeff Bridges recently revealed that his character, Obadiah Stane, was meant to survive in the 2008 Iron Man movie. According to him, "The Iron Monger falls into this big pit of whatever it is, some kind of acid or something, in his costume. They pull it up in the big crane and they open up his costume and he''s gone. And when we were shooting that film they said, "No we're not going to do that. We're just going to have you go." And I said, "Oh shit, I was kind of disappointed." Because I was thinking [I would] be in the sequels. But they said it's a comic book, maybe the Iron Monger will come back."
Iron Monger coming back in "Iron Man 4" has a great possibility considering that there are a lot of potential story that can be drawn in his character. After all Stane and Stark have a lot of bad blood between them and "Iron Man 4" will be the best place to have them settle it once and for all.
"Iron Man 4" may still have a long way to go before it goes to production. It will be a relief see Iron Man in a solo film after all cross over films that will be shown in theaters this year.
