"Iron Man 4" production has not yet been decided as of this time. A lot of reports are circulating that Robert Downey Jr. will be replaced in the fourth installment of the "Iron Man" film franchise. Downey finds support from his co-actor, Robert Duvall, in "The Judge" and hints that he may still reprise his role as the billionaire-playboy Tony Stark in the future film.
Amidst the rumors that Robert Downey Jr. may not comeback in the Iron Man film franchise, the actor finds some encouraging words with his co-actor in the "The Judge" while they were promoting their new movie.
In an interview with Variety, Downey clarified rumors on "Iron Man 4" and said that "There isn't one in the pipe," adding that, "No, there's no plan for a fourth 'Iron Man.'" When he was asked if he will "let" someone to take his place as Tony Stark, the actor just simply laughed and jokingly said that "I like that the idea is that it would be up to me, like I'm casting director for Marvel." However, Robert Duvall gave his firm advice and said "Don't give it to anybody else."
Fans of the Iron Man film franchise will know that there were a lot of reports saying that Robert Downey Jr. may not extend his contract with Marvel beyond "The Avengers 3". However, the actor has contributed a lot in the film franchise and to the whole Marvel Cinematic Universe for his great performance as Tony Stark. Marvel would have suffered a big loss if they wouldn't cast him in the future "Iron Man 4" movie. Even Joss Whedon, who had been working with Downey in the Avengers film franchise said that he wouldn't do the movie without Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man.
While news about the Robert Downey Jr. being replaced by the young actor Harry Keener in "Iron Man 4", Downey hinted that he might be back to do more movies with Marvel as Iron Man.
In his interview with The Ellen Show, Ellen DeGeneres asked Downey if there will be a fourth Iron Man. The Tony Stark actor said that "I know there's going to be a bunch more Marvel movies" adding that marvel "have big ideas of how to do it best and we're in the middle of negotiation..."
Ellen then asked a follow up "So, yes?" referring to "Iron Man 4" movie and Downey replied with a definite statement "Okay, yes!"
"Iron Man 4" will have a long way to go before the cast is finalized and production starts. Fans of the Iron Man and Robert Downey Jr. may still their favorite actor and superhero in the upcoming "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" and "Captain America: Civil War".
