Amanda Seyfried to Star Opposite Theo James in 'Black Lung'; 'Ted 2' Actress Stages Off-Broadway Debut in 'The Way We Get By'

A certified sought-after actress in Tinseltown, Amanda Seyfried seales left and right projects. Recently, the production heads of supernatural thriller 'Black Lung' announced that she will star in the film opposite Theo James of 'Divergent.' Furthermore, the 'Mean Girls' actress is also tap to play a leading character in off-Broadway stage play 'The Way We Get By.'

According to Variety, Black Lung's principal photography will take place this summer. It a film where Chase Palmer both serves as screenwriter and director, while 'Sin Nombre' and 'Jane Eyre' director Cary Fukunaga is the executive producer (via his Parliament of Owls production company).

"Black Lung possesses that rare mix of qualities that we as producers dream about. It's elegant, sophisticated, and thrillingly commercial with a visionary filmmaker and two electrifying actors on board to bring it to the screen," Emily Ziff and Sara Murphy of Cooper's Town Prods said in a statement.

"Amanda Seyfried and Theo James are two of the most in demand actors in Hollywood and are the perfect duo to play a couple battling with mysterious forces in Black Lung. The tense script combined with these A-list stars will make it a key title for buyers in Berlin," Lisa Wilson and Myles Nestel, founders of The Solution Entertainment Group, shared. Wilson and Nestel's company will handle the international rights of Blank Lung.

Meanwhile, 29-year old Les Miserables film star takes over Tatiana Maslany's role in the play 'The Way We Get By'. This is the first off-Broadway gig for the 'Dear John' star, who will act as love interest of 38-year old theater actor Thomas Sadoski's character.

"Meet Beth [played by Seyfried] and Doug [by Sadoski]: two people who have no problems getting dates with their partners of choice," as stated on play's website. "What they do have, however, is a very awkward encounter after spending one hot night together following a drunken wedding reception they attend."

"They wake up to a blurry morning where the rules of attraction, sex and society are waiting for them before their first cup of coffee, which leads them to ponder how much they really know about each other and how much they really care about what other people think. The Way We Get By is a play about love and lust and the whole damn thing."

Written by playwright Neil LaBute, The Way We Get By's director is Leigh Silverman.
