Redmi Note, 4G Highlights Octa-Core Processors, Snapdragon 400 as Network Connectivity Upgrades

By

Both the 4G version and the Redmi Note almost look identical which isn't surprising because the latest version is mainly upgraded for faster connectivity. Besides, it wouldn't be a problem since the previous model looks solid and quite nice too.

The difference between the two in terms of built can rather be spotted beneath the phone where only two slots can be found for SIM cards and MicroSD cards. That's because the 4G version is a single SIM device.

The specifications used for the previous version and the newest version are also the same, except for the processor. The former runs on an octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor, while the latest model is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400. Using a new processor is necessary for the 4G connectivity to be possible.

For the brand's fan in India this is good news. It means Xiaomi can make the latest Redmi handset available in their country, unlike the previous model which is restricted in the country because of the current order that ban any MediaTek-based products to be sold in the country.

Xiaomi must be excited about this too especially since the tech manufacturer have made the Redmi Note 4G available in India since February 12 via open flash sales.

The 4G version also sports a 5.5-inch screen display, 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage space, and 65GB external storage capacity. There's also no need to install antivirus software and RAM cleaner because the newest model already comes with built-in security detectors.

Other identical features include the 13-megapixel cameras, digital compasses, accelerometers, and the Bluetooth 4.0. Both models also come with GPS and FM radio features as well as the gyroscopes and proximity sensors.

The Redmi Note 4G is priced reasonably for its features and all. But to shell out an extra Rs. 1,000 for the 4G connectivity, the tradeoff may not be a smart move. While it is a good alternative for other phone users, 4G is not just widespread enough in developing countries like India. That's not to mention that the previous model is no longer available.
