"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2" Cast Talks Sequel Ideas, Bebop and Rocksteady Confirmed

By

Michael Bay's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" reboot (which has just released on Blu-Ray) may not have gone over well with the fans, but it was certainly successful enough to warrant a sequel. Which is both good and bad news, probably- good, in that "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2" will continue the "TMNT" name and keep the Turtles in popular standing with the public. And bad, in that the latest reboot wasn't particularly pleasant to sit through- so most llkely, neither will the sequel.

It's even possible that if the next film doesn't succeed, we might see another "Ninja Turtles" reboot down the line. But that's probably a few years away, at best.

Still, there's no reason to get so dour about another go-round with Bay's Shrek-looking Ninja Turtles. In fact, there's plenty of buzz around the film right now, and some of it might even (gasp) skew towards the positive side.

For example, Flickering Myth spoke with William Fichtner, who plays the villain Eric Sachs in the film. And while Fichtner might not know much about what's headed towards us in the next "Ninja Turtles" film, he at least knows he'll be in it.

When asked if he knew any "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2" details, Fichtner responded:

"You know, honestly I don't. I know they're working on the script right now. I think we're going to start shooting late April and I don't know much more about it than that right now."

But at least he did confirm he'd be showing up for part two- "I am. And I look forward to whatever that is!"

And here's some even better news for "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" fans- three fan-favorite characters have already been confirmed for the sequel. ScreenRant to director Jonathan Liebesman, who said the following:

"Casey Jones. Bebop and Rocksteady. We had those conversations throughout development of this movie but we're launching this movie now in two weeks. Hopefully everybody feels the same way we do [about it]. We love them [Bebop and Rocksteady]."

And honestly, a movie with Bebop and Rocksteady can't be all bad, can it? It's not like Michael Bay and co. could make those two as ugly as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ended up looking. Hopefully, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2" ends up with at least a little more love than the first film.
