Last year, the airline industry faced massive challenges. Two of the most infamous incidents were that of the Malaysia Airline MH 370 and AirAsia Flight 8501. We all know that the latter has apparently more developments. However, we must consider that while both are from South East Asia, the incidents were very much different.
According from numerous reports, Malaysia Airline MH 370 went out of its path which made it harder to locate the plane. On the other hand, AirAsia Flight 8501 disappeared without diverting to another route. Plus, the case of AirAsia's crash was due to a storm which was a normal episode in the area. It was then easier to track the possibility of AirAsia's whereabouts.
Handling the post-event was also very different. If you can remember, Malaysia Airlines was not able to provide a lot of information about the disappearance. Their claims were very unclear for most people. However, AirAsia's CEO, Tony Fernandes was very visible at that time. He was providing real time updates and sincerely took responsibility for the incident. This earned him respect from crisis management experts.
Until now, the families of the missing flight MH 370 are making headlines because they still crave for more answers. AirAsia's recent crash has slowly veering away from the prying eyes of the public. However, that doesn't mean that AirAsia is free from problems brought about by the crash. According to a source, AirAsia is slowing down its growth and some of its legs are considerably unprofitable.
Apart from that, it was reported that AirAsia was tagged as one of the most dangerous airlines in the world.
Perhaps, it's about time that AirAsia levels up its game by improving their services in all aspects. Indeed, their search operation for the AirAsia Flight 8501 crash was somehow, successful. However, passengers would want to avoid mishaps instead of being pacified after heart-breaking incidents like a plane crash.
