As viewers and casts bid goodbye to a cancer-struck Sheriff Forbes in episode 14, 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 6 Episode 15 will be seen Caroline at her most vulnerable shape, which makes Elena worry for her best friend.
According to TV Guide, when Caroline faces the sad reality, Elena notices her best friend's developing behavior that is not like her at all.
A promotional video for episode 15 titled "Let Her Go" released by The CW takes viewers to see some flashbacks of Caroline's childhood memories as she copes with the loss of her mother.
Moreover, the video also shows a worried Elena saying, "I don't think she's handling this as well as she thinks she is".
Elsewhere, Damon is also seen doing a eulogy for Liz, whom he considers his "friend." As he comforts the mourning Caroline, he himself has to deal with memories of heartaches and pain involving his mother.

"After assigning tasks to each of her friends, Caroline (Candice Accola) attempts to deal with her current situation as reality begins to set in around her. While spending the day with Caroline, Elena (Nina Dobrev) grows concerned when she starts noticing a strange change in her behavior. Meanwhile, Alaric (Matt Davis) becomes wary when Kai (guest star Chris Wood), who has begun experiencing unexpected consequences from the merge, turns to Jo (guest star Jodi Lyn O'Keefe), desperate for her help. Elsewhere, while Bonnie (Kat Graham) finds herself in an unfamiliar situation, Matt (Zach Roerig) and Tyler (Michael Trevino) contemplate a major life change. And when Damon (Ian Somerhalder) offers Caroline advice on how to cope with everything going on around her, it forces him to revisit painful memories involving his own mother. Paul Wesley also stars."
The synopsis also teases that Alaric gets suspicious when Kai turns to Jo for help. In the past episodes, Kai has engrossed some surprising persona of Luke as a result of the merge, apart from the twin's magical powers. Fans will get to see Kai's changing personality in this episode as well.
