Latest “Sister Wives” news confirms that Meri has indeed chosen to divorce Kody, and the reason for her decision is yet to be revealed in an upcoming tell-all following the March 1 season 5 finale.
“Sister Wives” will end its fifth season with a two-hour special on March 1 starting at 8pm, with the second hour being a tell-all courtesy of TLC and hosted by Tamron Hall. According to Us Weekly, the special will shed light on Meri’s decision and how the family has decided to “take the additional step of Robyn marrying Kody.”
Meri’s decision to divorce Kody did not just happen overnight. “I’ve been kind of thinking about this for about five years,” Meri reveals. Apparently, she has been considering it since Robyn came into the family.
Sunday’s episode also revealed Meri visiting a lawyer without Kody. Despite the five years of thinking about divorce, a preview for the upcoming finale reveals Meri crying as she decides to push through with it.
All things that happened in the season are open for discussion during the tell-all.
To clarify with viewers, the Brown polygamy is not toppling over, as Meri and Kody’s divorce is only “legal,” She Knows says. “Kody and Meri are not splitting up. Kody is marrying Robyn (in the eyes of the law) so that her children from her first marriage can receive health benefits,” clarifies the article.
Kody remains spiritually married to his four wives Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn
However, the article has noted that Meri’s decision “still feels like she’s taking a step away.” Meri does not have young kids with Kody to worry about, and it may be the perfect time to “pursue her own adventures because her feelings for Kody aren’t as strong anymore.”
Meri’s feelings towards the family’s expansion to involve more wives have been evident in earlier episodes, and she has expressed unhappiness on more than one occasion. The article adds, “Meri even admits that she and Kody are still working on their relationship after Janelle came into the mix of the family years ago.”
Furthermore, Meri allegedly thinks that the sister wives’ bond she expected was far from what she received.
Meri encourages viewers of the show to hold on for March 1 to know the truth. “Can I just say tabloid? Or media? Come on, you guys have to be smarter than that! Watch my REAL reason on March 1,” her Twitter post says.
Kody’s other two wives were as surprised by the divorce as viewers were, with Christine saying she “did not see that coming at all,” and Janelle worrying that it “changes the dynamic” of the family, adds IB Times.
