'Star Wars: Battlefront' PS4, Xbox One, PC Release Date, Update: Game dev reveals wide, distinctive modes as pre-orders already available

'Star War: Battlefront' series will have its latest iteration which allows players to recreate some of the most iconic Star Wars battles. Design director revealed about various design philosophies for the upcoming game. DICE's plans to have a single-player campaign mode are surprising. Pre-orders are already available.

According to a report, Design Director Niklas Fegraeus mentioned about the design philosophies behind the game. He said that each maps and gameplay modes are distinct to each other as players can have a lot of options to choose they desired. "The scale of our maps and modes offer a great variety depending on the location. Hoth, where the Rebel Alliance fought off invading AT-ATs in snowy plains, will differ in size than the dense woodland of Endor," he said.

With the gameplay's distinctiveness in accord to the design philosophy set for the game, Fergraeus said that in each of the game modes will live out the players' most memorable Star Wars battle fantasies. He stated, "We have actually made the decision to specifically tailor certain maps to certain game modes and what we get from that is not only incredibly varied scales, but also gameplay that will allow players to live out some of their most memorable Star Wars battle fantasies."

On the other side, 'Battlefront' was reported to be developed in a single-player campaign and multiplayer mode which covers the entire Star Wars sage that will lead the players to the scenes included in the beginning of 'The Force Awakens,' J. J. Abrams' upcoming movie and sequel of 'Return of the Jedi' to release by December. In the multiplayer mode, it can accommodate 64 players which will be splitted into teams of 32 while fighting across different range of environments like Hoth, Endor, Alderaan, Coruscant, Yavin, and multiple maps of Tatooine (seen in Episodes one, four, and seven).

Aside from that, players can accrue points in a match which can be cashed in as a Hero character, which possesses special powers and abilities.

The same site also mentioned that the 'Battlefront' will be set in the original trilogy era. Compared to the other game contemporaries, this has longer campaign as the players can have the chance to play as both Republic (the good guys) and Empire (the bad guys) characters. Another type of campaign noted where players will be taken to the era between "Return of the Jedi" and the "Force of the Awakens." However, LucasArts has their own plans for the period.

Supported by EA, developer's CFO Blake Jorgensen labeled the game a high priority thus, they will be making an aggressive move to the game's title. He also expressed his excitement and seen a huge potential for it. He even compared that Battlefront and 'Battlefield' series will have the same level of support.

As EA's aggression move to the game, DICE also said they are also doing the same with the DLC packs which contain additional maps, vehicles, and characters available in up to five post-launch packs. One source said that the first two packs will be based from the upcoming movie.

'Star Wars: Battlefront' slated for release in December this year alongside the release of new Star Wars movie 'The Force Awakens.' Developer made this a good strategy to ensure enormous sales for the game as the Star Wars trilogy remains an unbeatable and leading release. This will be available in PS4, Xbox One, and PC in this year's holidays. Pre-order prices range from £48 in Amazon and £54 in Game online stores.
