‘Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture’ PS4, Xbox One Update: Chinese Room announces game’s alpha stage; Development on double time until March

By

Finally, SCE Santa Monica Studio gave The Chinese Room its approval to push through with the alpha stage of "Everybody's Gone to the Rapture." Last December, The Chinese Room gave it last update on the project that it would soon go on alpha stage. Now, that announcement has become a reality.

In their blog, The Chinese Room said that they have "submitted the alpha build for 'Everybody's Gone to the Rapture'" and SCE Santa Monica Studio gave its "big thumbs up." They added that this would "hurtle them straight towards beta and then gold."

This latest update on "Everybody's Gone to the Rapture" would mean that The Chinese Room would be very busy with the back half development of the game. So far, they have shared on their blog that "the first instance of a brand new AI system" had just been completed. They also added that "stunning voice-overs recorded last year would be fleshed out with visuals." The Chinese Room even stated that "this would be their best game ever."

"Everybody's Gone to the Rapture" would be a "spiritual sequel" to "Dear Esther." It would be set in a village in Shropshire during the advent of the apocalypse and would focus on six individual's sharing their stories.

For gamers who're familiar with "Dear Esther," "Everybody's Gone to the Rapture" would offer more interaction with objects in the game while keeping the brand of brilliant graphic design established by its predecessor. The Chinese Room have assured gamers that they're in complete control of the game development.

They added that "by this point the world is locked, scenes are locked, we know what's happening." Additional news on what would be going on "Everybody's Gone to the Rapture" would be released by March as The Chinese Room would continue on "making something they're really proud of."
