The addition of Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a huge deal. HUGE. And for a movie this huge, it's shaking up Marvel's schedule pretty intensely- multiple movies have already been bumped back a year, and several films have been rearranged around the upcoming "Avengers: Infinity War, Part 1" and "Avengers: Infinity War, Part 2."
But could the presence of "Spider-Man" actually end up bumping one of the films- specifically, "Thor: Ragnarok"- out of Phase Three entirely? That's the rumor put out by MoviePilot. And it's also a rumor that's completely, 100% false, as we'll go ahead and prove right now.
For one thing, MoviePilot asserts that because Marvel's Phase Three was revealed several months ago, there's no way to insert a Spider-Man reboot into the current schedule, and Spider-Man would have to wait until Phase Four. This is blatantly incorrect, as Marvel's already made an official announcement about Spider-Man's inclusion in Phase Three. July 28, 2017. That's when the next "Spider-Man" film comes out. In Phase Three.
So MoviePilot's assertion that "Thor: Ragnarok" might get the bump to include "Spider-Man" early doesn't make a whole lot of sense (also, on a more minor note, every single word is capitalized in the MoviePilot piece, which doesn't exactly lend the rumor credibility).
Here's what we do know, however: Chris Hemsworth will be involved in "Thor: Ragnarok" (duh). As well, he has absolutely no idea what might happen in the film. As ScreenRant reports, when asked if he knew the plot of "Thor: Ragnarok," here's what Hemsworth had to say:
"No, I can't. But also, there is no script for 'Thor,' the next 'Thor,' so I have no idea."
As well, MovieWeb has a quote from Tom Hiddleston about the film:
"Thor 3 is happening at some point, and the last time we saw Loki, he was on the throne. There are some questions to be answered!"
So that much we do know- Thor and Loki will return, and Thor and Loki really have no idea what's going on right now. But it's safe to say that we'll be getting "Thor: Ragarok." Spider-Man or no Spider-Man.
