"Thor 3: Ragnarok" was moved back into a later release date and there are reports that the upcoming film will be the last in the Thor film franchise. Viewers may see Thor's death at the end of the movie as producers confirm to take it to a whole new level.
Chris Hemsworth recently teased that upcoming "Thor 3: Ragnarok" will pick up from the events of "The Avengers: Age of Ultron". According to the actor, Thor will be shown in a troubled phase after the events of Ultron.
This may lead Thor to leave Midgard and head to Asgard in the third installment of the Thor movie franchise. In the comic book, the Ragnarok arc will feature the massive destruction of Asgard in a post war scenario.
Additional reports suggest that the backdrop for the Ragnarok Arc will show Thor inheriting the Odin power after the death of Odin in the hands of Surtur, a fire demon and main antagonist in the Ragnarok arc. There will be a time travel element in story and Loki will gain access to the mold that created Mjolnir. Reports indicate that the story will end with the destruction of Asgard and the death of Thor.
Ragnarok is a Norse Myth which refers to the death of numerous gods and the end of the world. In the comic book, Ragnarok is referred both to the Thor's story arc and the cyborg clone of Thor who was used in the Civil War Arc to suppress the anti-Superhero Registration Act superheroes.
Chris Hemsworth revealed that there is not script yet for the next Thor film and he does not have an idea on what the plot will be. But he said that "It's pretty big". Marvel President Kevin Feige also revealed that "Thor 3: Ragnarok" will be pushing the boundaries of its predecessors, saying that "We plan on taking Thor to another level. It picks up where we leave Thor in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' and impacts everything that comes after."
Now since the new Thor in the comic book is already a female, there are speculations that there will be drastic changes in the upcoming Avengers Infinity Wars movies. It is possible that Thor may pass his Mjolnir to a new hero in the upcoming films.
