Xperia Z4 Release Not Happening? Updates Conclusive of Sony's Market Fall

By

If you are into Sony's Xperia Z4, you will have to wait until late 2015 because the anticipated March release won't be happening. Blame it to the delayed production of the device's Snapdragon 810 processor. But is it really the culprit?

The Mobile World Congress is happening in barely a week, and yet Sony seems to be strangely quiet about the supposed launching of its flagship smartphone in March.

If Samsung is all set for the "Unpacked" event at the MWC, complete with the media invitations and all the teasers, Sony hasn't distributed any making it hard not to believe the speculations about the company skipping holding a press conference because it does not have a flagship phone to unveil at the event.

If Sony's chief executive will be asked, the reason for the lack of flagship phone to showcase goes beyond the processor issue. Earlier this year, Sony's chief executive Kazuo Hirai mentioned about the company's plans of moving away from its products that aren't doing well.

The chief executive did mention specifically the phones.

To quote his message in an executive meeting, Sony "plans to bump operating profits by a factor of 25 in the next three years, however, the emphasis here was on Sony's growth areas -- PlayStation and camera sensors. Areas where Sony isn't doing so well -- that's phones --might be getting the chop."

But even if Sony will not be holding a press conference at the MWC event, which runs from March 2-5, 2015, it will have a booth where memebrs of the media will be invited to visit. The opening of Sony's booth is scheduled on March 2.

Without a flagship phone to showcase, it is likely for Sony to come up with a downscale floor booth. And without the supposed consumer debut of the Sony Xperia Z4, Sony mobile supporters will have to wait for the next update about the released date of the elusive Xperia Z4.

That is, if Sony goes against its plan of discontinuing its mobile business.
