Star Wars 7 Ultimate Spoiler: Did Director JJ Abrams Really Let Han Solo Die in the Hands of Villain?

By

Unconfirmed but persistent rumors that Han Solo will meet his death in The Force Awakens, is hitting Star Wars fans like ice water on a very cold day. If it proves to be true, this heart-breaking development is easily the biggest spoiler from the set of Episode 7 to hit the Internet since filming commenced.

Jason Ward wrote in Making Star Wars, which is apparently an unofficial Star Wars website that he stands by his story and his sources that indeed, the Millennium Falcon’s iconic pilot will finally “be one with the Force” and join the likes of other Star Wars greats such as Ben Kenobi and Yoda. Ward goes further to say that the Solo’s death will be caused by villain Kylo Ren in a fateful confrontation inside The Evil Castle. Even sadder is that his execution reportedly takes place in full view of his oldest and dearest friend, the Wookie Chewbacca.

Meantime, director JJ Abrams told BBC News that some rumors are true, referring to Star Wars 7 plot leakages in certain websites. Then again, he also said in the same interview that some of them are false. In essence he said nothing to confirm or deny Solo’s supposedly impending demise. Abrams did say that they tried their best to “preserve the story” but that “it doesn’t always work.” Fans can draw their own conclusions from that statement.

It is not known how dyed-in-the-wool fans will react to advance notice of Han Solo’s death, and if this can potentially affect Episode 7’s performance at the box office. Hardcore Star Wars fans, of which there are reportedly legions worldwide, may consider this artistic liberty taken by Abrams and Disney as nothing less than cinematic sacrilege.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is scheduled to hit theaters in December this year, but there are reports that Abram may go with an earlier summer release date. This will be a bid to finally plug the seemingly endless plot and image leakages circulating unabated in the Internet.
