'Batman: Arkham Knight' PS4, Xbox One, PC Release Date, Rumors: Arkham games to receive M ratings? Warner Bros. to delete game's 'key scenes'

While waiting for the initial release of Batman: Arkham Knight's release this June 2 this year, teasers are already posted through game developer's Twitter account [for Arkham]. Arkham games were both rated as "M" for Mature from the ESRB.

Rocksteady Studios tweeted their teasers to fans through their official account in Arkham Knight, "First he protected the Asylum, then Arkham City. This time, all of Gotham needs him," hashtagged, "#ArkhamKnight." Days ago, they posted, "Riddler puts the Batmobile to the ultimate test." Same hashtag. This means that with the Arkham Knight, there will be tougher gaming experience for the players.

Sefton Hill, the founder of Rocksteady and game director on Arkham Knight said that the reason why the game earned such rating. He mentioned about specific age brackets who are allowed to play the game. Since it has an "M" rating, it will be suited only for players 17 years old and above). Together with Arkham Knight, Arkham Asylum was also rated the same.

"From our point of view, we never wrote it or made it with a rating in mind. We never did that in the previous two games... We just felt that this is the story that we really wanted to tell," Hill added, "In terms of creating the story, with such strong characters, sometimes they lead you in interesting directions. They lead you because you know who are they are and you build the world around that."

The boss didn't shared about any specific examples on how the Arkham Knight could beat those games, though the last Arkham games were pushed to its limits of their T rating [as their darkest moments].

"As the end of the trilogy, we have every villain in Gotham working together to destroy Batman ... It's unavoidable that some bad stuff is going to happen. But that doesn't mean we changed our approach. We're not including gratuitous blodd or swearing. We want to deliver a true end with no compromises, and it takes us to some dark places."

Apart from that, he also mentioned about the mature themese that are included in the usual storyline of the game. But he said it's balanced like the usual. Yet, he emphasized in the Arkham, Batman will be more powerful and at his peak so, the villains should do some dirty tactics to defeat him in some ways.

Warner Bros. did a rating analysis on Arkham Knight and highlighted those scenes that might create problems in the future. So, WB wished to cut out those scenes that made the game dev boss freaked out.

"I was really freak out because the solution was to lose the scenes ... But they were key scenes! We couldn't lose them!"

He expressed his side towards WB wished them to do. "I got the email. I'm freaked out. I thought this was going to destroy the game, everything I'm passionate about...I was building myself up for this big argument. I didn't get much sleep."

According to IGN, the downside for having an M rating is that those players under 17 years old are not allowed to play the game unless there is an assured adult supervision.

Batman: Arkham Knight will be available in PS4, Xbox One, and PC by June 2. System specifications are not yet confirmed by the game developer.
