Music games is set to make a big splash in game consoles as the new Guitar Hero franchise has been reported to hit Xbox One and PlayStation 4 (PS4) not sooner than later after a long hiatus.
Guitar hero's developer Activision reportedly gained a slot at the Electronic entertainment Expo (E3) and is showing up for a demo this coming June, British site Kotaku learned.
In its report, the new title goes on a "more realistic" technique compared to previous Guitar Hero franchises, whose visual capability sticks to the typical animation. The source reports that both "crowds and performers will look more in-line with real life."
A representative from Activision recently commented: "As one of the most beloved entertainment franchises, we would only bring Guitar Hero back if we developed the right innovations to usher the franchise into the new generation of gaming."
Meanwhile, in development as of now for the title are new guitar peripherals with mentions of Xbox and PS4, which is due for an E3 announcement and full debut before the year ends. Released in September 2010, the last Guitar Hero franchise named Warriors of Rock was killed off by Activision and publisher RedOctane later in 2011, seeing the time's recession totally deflated the rise of music game in mid to late '00s.
It was even reported that though troubled, a seventh installment was in development by Vicarious Visions in New York. Game studios RedOctane and Neversoft who worked on Guitar Hero have been closed after it was owned by Activision, and it is uncertain as now if Vicarious Visions or Activision's West Coast Studios would take over the latest game franchise.
Meanwhile, another music game under Harmonix is also reported to be revived soon.
Bloomberg reported that Rock Band series is in the works and will also be out for Xbox One and PS4, while no details on the game have been revealed as of now. The last Rock Band game was released in 2012 called Rock Band Blitz. It was designed to be used with a controller instead of a fake guitar. Rock Band 3 was first launched on the Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii in 2010.
