2015 Macbook Air Top Features: Broadwell Core M Processors, Thinner Hinge, No Apple Logo? New Macbook Air 2015 Releases before May

By

Macbook Air 2015 is on its way, and its top features have been uncovered one after the other. Currently, the new Macbook is reported boasting Broadwell-Y Core M processors and possibly a thinner hinge. As the February 24 release date did not happen, the rumored 12-inch Macbook Air with Retina display is now expected to come before April.

February 24 is an important date for Apple, with it being Steve Jobs' 60th birthday. Expectations were high that the new Macbook Air would be released on that event, but since it did not happen, Christian Today mentions the Macbook Air 2015 possibly coming "at any given point in time from February to April."

There are also rumors saying that the 12-inch Macbook will be offered in space gray, silver, and gold, just like the latest iPhone models. Moreover, it will allegedly come with the TouchID fingerprint sensor found on iPhones and iPads.

MacBook Air 2015 is shipping with Intel's Broadwell chips, IB Times reports. According to the article, "Using such under the hood can give Apple the chance to boost the Mabook's power-efficient 4.5W performance." The shift from Apple's current Haswell processors to Intel's fifth gen core will offer 90 minutes more battery life for the device.

The 2015 Macbook Air is also rumored to be fanless and only a few millimeters thicker than the iPad Air. Moreover, it will apparently not have the glowing Apple logo as a compromise to keep the metal chassis "extremely thin," Custom Today says.

Furthermore, a recently uncovered patent from Apple suggests that the Cupertino-based company may be working on thinner hinges.

Previous MacBook Air models are being compared with rival company offerings with thinner and slimmer designs, such as Dell's XPS 13, which is 23 percent smaller even with the same screen size. Dell XPS 13 offers an innovative design featuring a thin bezel "that frees screen."

Dell XPS 13 also already features Broadwell-based Intel Core i5, which gives it faster speeds when compared with the current Macbook Air models having 1.4 GHz Haswell-based Intel Core i5. Apple Macbook Air's current speeds are "subjective depending on the user" despite efforts to maximize the device's potential.
