Disney’s marketing campaign for its latest Marvel superhero flick, Avengers: Age of Ultron seems to be on an upswing barely two months before it hits theaters worldwide. A solo poster of The Incredible Hulk was just released immediately following the Iron Man solo and one showing all seven Team members with supporting characters in the peripherals.
Cinema Blend was one among several websites to publish the solo poster of the Grumpy Green Giant who we all love and adore! The website opined that the Hulk looked “more jacked up than ever,” and anyone would be hard put to disagree. It showed the Hulk in much the same pose as in the group poster but magnified and in much greater detail. He seems to be getting ready to SMASH those puny Ultron facsimiles surrounding him.
What seems to make the poster work so well is the fact that it looks undeniably like the Hulk of comic lore but at the same time it is still unmistakably Mark Ruffalo! It is no wonder that the Hulk poster was first posted in Ruffalo’s Face Book account. “I’m very excited to share the first Hulk poster for Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the actor said on his FB.
Shortly before the Hulk poster, a solo Iron Man/Tony Stark poster was also released by way of Robert Downey, Jr.’s Twitter account. Downey teases fans further with an ambiguous Tweet saying, “big announcement in 8 days.” Nobody wants to speculate as to what that announcement will be, but observers expect something big from director Joss Whedon and Disney early next week.
Screen Rant said that Disney/Marvel seems to be rewriting the books in as far as “preserving the fan experience” through its conservative promotional strategy for the Avengers sequel. It is suggested that the “less is more” approach to teasers is more effective in keeping audiences interested ahead of the May 1 premier. Calibrated releases of solo posters of other Avengers team members will likely be the norm. This is in stark contrast to the Star Wars 7 set, which seems to be uncontrollably leaking away all the suspense, some observers noted.
