Hilary Duff has just filed a divorce from her husband of five years Mike Comrie. In an interview, the songstress shared what happened to their marriage and the resulting skepticism she has about getting married. She also admitted that she has a crush on Charlie Hunnam.
The 27-year-old opened up to Cosmopolitan magazine about their split, and she believed that love was always there even during the difficult times they had to go through but it wasn't enough to keep them together, reported News.
"Mike and I were very in love when we met. We both really wanted to get married. I'd been working since the age of 11 or 12, so making that choice at a young age seemed right for me. Maybe it wasn't, but we spent the majority of our time together really happy. It wasn't working well enough to stay together, but there was still a lot of love involved. It was just a slow set-in of us not being the match that we used to be. I'm lucky for the person he is and I am and how we decided to handle this," Hilary says.
Duff also expressed her skepticism about some people who are meant to be together forever. For her, staying long together requires a lot of sacrifices, reported E!.
"I don't want to sound bitter because I'm definitely not, but I don't know if people are meant to be together forever. Things happen over a long relationship that you can't always fight. A marriage of 20 years, the accomplishment of that must feel really great, but there are also huge sacrifices," she says.
She also shared how important happiness is in a marriage-something that she missed in her 5 years relationship with Comrie, reported US Magazine.
"I just always want to fight for happiness."
When Hilary Duff was asked if she's crushing on someone in the Hollywood, she revealed that it's Charlie Hunnam. However, she also said that she's off with the idea of bringing it to social media like her ex-boyfriend Aaron Carter did.
"Come on, guys," Duff says. "Keep it between text messages."
As of now, Hilary Duff isn't ready to invest on love again. Aside from promoting her TV series 'Youunger,' she's also working on her single 'All About You.'
