The long-running 90's children's tv series "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" will have its official reboot to be headed by the company that gave us "The Hunger Games" and "Mortdecai", which is Lionsgate. The studio company will be producing the film with Roberto Orci, Allison Shearmur, Brian Casentini and Haim Saban. The film will be featuring high school students with extraordinary skills and powers which they must use to fight crimes and intergalactic monsters.
But before the film could even start shooting, "Power/Rangers" fan film produced by Adi Shankar caught the eye of Haim Entertainment, the original right holder of the Power Rangers. The short film included a darker story of the Rangers which can be deemed inappropriate for a reboot of a children's show. The right holders threatened the makers with legal suits now that the fan film has garnered more 12,000 views and can be often mistaken as part of the original film production.
Liam Hemsworth in talks for the film? Meryl Streep to play as the antagonist?
Familiar Hollywood names have been circulating the internet for quite some time. Reports suggest that Liam Hemsworth (The Last Song) is being considered to play as the Red Ranger. The actor hasn't spoken up yet if he's interested for the role. Chloe Moretz (If I Stay) is also being considered to play the role of the Pink Ranger. Her performance in the action film Kick-Ass definitely showcased her talent on beating up the bad guys.
Other than these heroes, Meryl Streep has reportedly been offered the role of the space villainess Rita Repulsa. The Oscar winner has not yet confirmed if she is in for the role but with her notable performance as the villain in the recent "Into the Woods", there's no doubt that she will be perfect for this role.
