Will touchscreen feature ever come in MacBook laptops, including the MacBook Pro 2015?
Apple has been restricting this functionality to its laptop devices, but it may change now given the high demand for touchscreens from MacBook users themselves.
Touchscreens would render mouse relatively unnecessary when navigating webpages and swiping between apps. Overall it would be an asset as far as controlling multimedia content and web browsing on Mac is concerned, IT PRO points out. This, coupled with the rumored sensor technology that will replace the physical buttons on its trackpads, would be a welcome advantage in this department.
But the question is would it arrive in MacBook Pro 2015? Rumors said yes. The MacBook Pro will feature a 4K screen display with touchscreen feature.
Many may not be aware of it but Apple once made a laptop with touch screen feature 17 years ago. It was called the eMate 300 powered by Apple's Newton PDA operating system. Of course, it's far from the in-cell touch display technology found in Apple's iOS devices now, and certainly not close to what MacBook users want to see with the upcoming MacBook Pro, but it sounds interesting nonetheless. Thanks to Macworld UK for this trivia.
There's also the patent that Apple filed for a MacBook and iPad hybrid product. The product is decribed to have a detachable touchscreen display and trackpad-equipped base, "and can also be rotated when attached to the base. Additionally, power could be wirelessly transferred from the base component to the detached display." This should assure MacBook Pro users that Apple has plans on becoming more innovative with the device.
The use of Intel's new Broadwell chips in MacBook Pro is also imminent. This should make the upcoming MacBook pro more efficient in terms of performance and battery life than it already is.
When it comes to price, PC Pro predicts that it would not be a high increase from the current MacBook Pro.
