Xiaomi Releases GoPro Rival, The Yi Action Camera: Specs, Price Revealed

Xiaomi, China's leading and now the world's third largest smart phone maker has decided to invade the camera industry with its newest sports camera. The Chinese manufacturer had introduced during the Mobile World Congress held at Barcelona, Spain this 2015, its flagship sports camera known as the Yi Action Camera. This camera is said to rival one of the market's eminent camera brand, GoPro. GoPro had also released its newest camera model in the Mobile World Congress.

Xiaomi's Yi Camera was made by Ants or Xiaoyi. According to technode, this company is a Dropcam-like video monitoring camera maker that is one of the members of Xiaomi's ambitious hardware plan. Clearly, Xiaomi still has plans to further its name in the worldwide market.

The Yi Action Camera by Xiaomi will possess killer features that would challenge GoPro. The camera would feature an Ambarella A7LS processor and a Sony 16MP Exmor R BSI CMOS photo sensor that would work on different types of lighting. Resolutions may be set at the user's discretion.

The Yi Action Camera's snapper will support various shooting modes. It would include a 0.5-60 second time delay, a 3-15 second time lapse photography, and would reach up to 7 images per second of continuous shooting. It has a waterproof capacity which would reach up to the depths of 40 meters. This would certainly make this a camera fit for adventurous people.

The Yi Action Camera comes in grass green and white models. It supports WiFi and Bluetooth. It even has an app for video editing and sharing. For camera enthusiasts who would like to purchase the Yi Camera, it is now on sale at the Xiaomi's website, JD and Tmall.

It was anticipated that GoPro will invade China's market, and Xiaomi would be prepared to maintain its dominance in the Chinese market. The Yi Camera would cost 399 CNY.
