Another piece of information is confirmed about OnePlus Two, that is, it is likely to arrive with metal design.
Sources speaking for Business Insider said that the successor to One Plus One could have metal chassis and refined overall appearance. This upgrade in design would make the upcoming flagship phone more expensive, but only slight and certainly not reach the very expensive price range of premium smartphones.
The affordability of the OnePlus One, OnePlus Two's predecessor, is also the reason that makes it very limited in supply. So if this increase in price would translate to a slight increase in supply of the upcoming OnePlus phone, the brand's supporters and prospective buyers wouldn't be irked by it. Their response may be even the opposite.
The brand's supporters have to be patient though because the company is keen on keeping the invite-only system in selling its product. Pre-orders will be rolled out soon after, and again to limited buyers only.
OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei said that the company has to maintain that standard method of selling because it can't afford to have inventories more than the demand. It has to be conservative in its approach because it is still a small company, Pei added.
OnePlus Two is also most likely to arrive with the rumored processor, Qualcomm Snapdragon 810. Apparently, this choice of chipset is the reason for the tentative release date of the upcoming flagship phone which could either be in second or third quarter of the year. The manufacturing challenges associated with this processing technology pushed the company to move the launching date to the third quarter of the year. Samsung also encountered issues with the same chipset, such as heating issues, prompting it to use its very own upgraded processors. OnePlus is also in the process of developing its very own OS called Oxygen.
A report also said that a slight change in the name must also be expected, like from the rumored OnePlus Two to OnePlus 2.
