Earlier this year, rumors spread that Sony would release Z3's successor, the Xperia Z4, at the MWC 2015-- the biggest phone show of the year.
The show's already over and a lot of brand-by-brand smartphones, tablets, and other gadgets were showcased in the event. Although Sony had always released their Xperia flagships traditionally in March, it didn't happen this year and speculations rose because of this.
Sony has already started rolling out the '4' product range starting with the Xperia M4 Aqua and Xperia Z4 Tablet so the possibility of a smartphone to be released soon is nearby. However, the question frequently raised is when will it be released?
One of the speculations about why Sony hasn't released the Xperia Z4 at the MWC this year is becuase it probably wasn't ready in time for the show. With so many smartphones being released every now and then, it is no surprise that Sony's smartphone business is struggling.
With the competition getting bigger, Sony has developed features for the Xperia Z4 that excited Sony fans all over the world.
One of the strongest feature of the Xperia Z3 is its attractive OmniBalance design so it looks like the the Z3 successor won't be straying too far from this feature. However, the Z4 series is said to be 1mm thinner. While the Z3 has a flap covering the port USB on the side, the Z4 doesn't, similar to the Xperia M4 Aqua.
Although the two doesn't have that much of a difference based on the rumors about the Z4 specs, we can only expect that it will have a faster processor over Z3 and a higher resolution display.
There hasn't been any announcement yet as to how much the smartphone would cost, but as Sony's flagship smartphone, the price is expected to be quite high.
Sony's always had two flagships a year but rumors spread that they'll be moving it to just one and pushing the Xperia Z4 release back to summer. Tim Harrison, Sony's Vice President of Global Communications and PR, said to an interview with TrustedReviews that the company hasn't moved to a twelve month product cycle yet so this probably means we won't have to wait too long for the release of Xperia's Z4.
