Sony Xperia Z4 Release Postponed to Summer? Leaked Renders Reveal Glass Panels and Resin Bezel

By

Sony has postponed the supposed launching of Xperia Z4 at this year's recently held Mobile World Congress, but it doesn't mean that the company's 2015 flagship smartphone won't be arriving at all.

Sony's CEO Kazuo Hirai clarified that the company will rather keep an eye on the competition, and on return on capital, than entirely cut its line of smartphone products. He said that the latter is not going to happen. Hirai had previously said that the company was planning to move away from its products that aren't doing well, such as the smartphone products, thus the speculations about Sony getting out of its smartphone business.

The appearance of the Xperia Z4 Tablet and the Xperia M4 Aqua at the MWC should also be an indication that a smartphone is coming alongside this Sony's "4" product bundle. The Z4 tablet, which was Sony's biggest announcement at the recently held MWC, is not set for launching until June so Sony has the summer to introduce its next flagship smartphone and make a back-to-back sale. While that is likely, Sony has not mentioned yet about the release date of the Xperia Z4 smartphone.

Tech Radar cited Taiwanese sources about the possibility of having two versions of the Xperia Z4 smartphone: one with FHD edition and another with QHD model. The FHD model would have a 1080 x 1920 full high definition screen, like that on the Xperia Z3. The QHD would sport a much higher 1440 x 2560 resolution.

In terms of design, Sony might sport similar features of the Xperia Z3's OmniBalance design given that it is one of the Z3's strongest features. The renders that leaked after the email account of Sony's CEO was hacked revealed a mirrored front and back body with a 1.2mm glass panel and resin bezel. The power lock key is moved on the right and there could be three color options - white, black, and yellow.

The Xperia Z4 smartphone could also have more rounded corners, aside from thinner top and bottom bezels. Better waterproofing system and front-facing camera could also be expected on Sony's upcoming flagship phone.
