With so many Marvel movies coming our way in a few months, it's hard to focus on the ones that are still a few years off- films like Thor: Ragnarok, for example. The third Thor film is coming together nicely, even though we're still more than two years away from its release date. And according to a certain rumor, there may be a very crucial tie between Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Avengers: Infinity War, and the state of the entire Marvel universe.
First of all, here's the rumor: it's been speculated that in Avengers: Age of Ultron, the Avengers will be so outclassed by Ultron that they'll need to leave Earth to find something strong enough to defeat him. And it may be that the only weapon strong enough to take down Ultron is the Infinity Gauntlet. Here's what star Chris Hemsworth has previously said on the matter, in regards to what Thor does once Ultron poses too great a threat:
"And so he calls upon some of that Asgardian knowledge and is able to go into, say, another realm to pull out something that's hugely useful."
If that's the case, then Thor may be the character most closely tied to the Infinity Gauntlet, and thus to the fate of the entire Marvel universe. It's previously been rumored that Thor: Ragnarok is actually so unimportant that it might be dropped off the schedule entirely, or that Thor might be killed off prematurely in the Marvel Universe, but clearly that's no longer the case, if this rumor is true.
Instead Thor might just be the most important character in the entire Marvel canon, if he's the one who knows the ins and outs of the Infinity Gauntlet, which is a crucial part of Phase 3.
Thor: Ragnarok will premiere on June 28, 2017.
