Deftones' latest album will be released this fall as the band is currently focusing in the writing process. Chino Moreno reveals their progress in their recording session and a new sampler is revealed to tease their fans.

Chino Moreno has been balancing his time between Deftones and his several side projects including, Palms, Team Sleep and Crosses. However the frontman vocalist is currently devoting all his time to Deftones this time as the group records their upcoming latest album.

The frontman revealed some details in the recording process of Deftones' latest album. According to Moreno, "The songs are amazing and we wrote them in a really cool way. We had all of us in a room together with one person expressing an idea and another person jumping on it. The songs are really built as a collective. We have five guys who have almost completely different takes on music, so when it works, it works great."

There will also be 16 songs in the upcoming album and they are expecting it to be released on September or October. Chino Moreno added that "I think it's a little more of a heady record. I feel like we've gone into the songs and really dissected them. If something sounded a little too straight, we took a left turn and made things a little screwy. We just tried something completely opposite, not to sabotage it, but to challenge ourselves and try new things that we haven't done in the past."

He further explained that it's a step up from their last album, Koi No Yokan, it will have a different approach but it will definitely be a Deftones record as it has all the elements that make up the band. The frontman added that "We're not going out there to change anything, other than just thinking outside the box."

A sampler clip from the new Deftones album was posted by MarcMojoIsBack in his Instagram account. The clip features 15 seconds of guitar and drums which sounds like a part of an intro of one of the new songs in the upcoming Deftones album.

Deftones is scheduled to finish recording their new album by the end of March. Chino Moreno expects to release their latest album this September or October.
