Walt Disney Pictures' "Tron Legacy" which was released in 2010 will be having a sequel. The film's success green-lighted the production of the "Tron 3" which will start filming in Vancouver this October 5, 2015. Joseph Kosinksy, the director who brought us "Oblivion" and the previous "Tron : Legacy" will be back to helm the film. The story follows that Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) from the original 1982 had a son named Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund) was trapped in the Grid's world for 20 years. There has been no official plot yet for the new film but it might pick up from where the last movie left off.
Garrett Hedlund to return as Sam Flynn? Will Olivia Wilde reprise her role?
"Tron : Legacy" ended with Sam Flynn and Quorra escaping the Grid. The question now is, will they be returning to continue the story? According to a report, only Hedlund has been confirmed to return as of this moment. The actor is known for "Unbroken", "On the Road" and "Country Strong". He is currently in talks for the supporting role for Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk, to be directed by Ang Lee.
The film succeeded in the box office with $400 million standing only with $170 million as the budget. The new film is expected to do better than the last. The previous film included Garrett Hedlund as Sam Flynn, Olivia Wilde as Quorra, Jeff Bridges as Kevin Flynn, Beau Garrett as Gem, Michael Sheen as Castor, Bruce Boxleitner as Alan Bradley, Steven Lisberger as Shaddix, James Frain as Jarvis and Donelly Rhodes as Grandpa Flynn.
Details on who will return and the new stars who will join the cast are scarce but with Disney's standard in creating multi-million dollar successes, we're sure that the more prestigious names will appear soon.
