‘Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End’ goes for 2016 release; Sony sees lean Q4 with Naughty Dog decision

Naughty Dog decided to delay the release of "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End," as the game developer would be preparing the biggest and most noteworthy finale the "Uncharted" franchise deserved. Avid gamers were in full support of the plan, while Sony looked at the other way in search of games that could fill in the big shoes "Uncharted" would be leaving behind.

The change on the release date of "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" was announced by Naughty Dog in a blog entry in PlayStation.com. Creative director and programmer Neil Druckmann said that the game's main character, Nathan Drake, meant a lot to them, especially after they had spent a lot of time with him in the entirety of the franchise.

Druckman added that the game's details, pacing and storyline deserved all the attention in keeping it at par with the team's high standards. He continued that the additional months that would be given to them in further improving the franchise's finale would also mean that the game would be able to deliver the same brand of quality that their hardcore gamers had expected in every Naughty Dog game.

Meanwhile, the blog entry included a 15-minute gameplay video for "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" that would give gamers a glimpse of what to expect on the title that would now be released in spring 2016. Since the title was revealed last December, Naughty Dog had experienced a lot of bumps in the project as big names in the team had moved out, based on a report from Kotaku.

Despite the major news that would greatly affect PS4 gamers, Sony had a few titles prepared for release this year, althought the exact dates were not yet revealed. Among the titles for release this 2015 for PS4 would be "Rachet & Clank" and "Everybody's Gone to the Rapture." However, these would not be as colossal as their Xbox One counterparts that could easily dominate the last quarter of 2015.

Although Sony would definitely have to wait for "Unchartered 4: A Thief's End," perhaps the delay could be beneficial for the giant media conglomerate as next year would be loaded with a stockpile of exciting events and game releases; including "Unchartered 4: A Thief's End" on that treasure throve could only make Sony's deal for 2016 all the more amazing.
