The first photos of Melissa Benoist as 'Supergirl' has been released by Warner Bros. after the long casting and development process. But some fans reacted with the images that it did not justify the iconic character.
Producer Warner Bros. Television has released the first-look photos of Melissa Benoist in the official costume as DC Comics character 'Supergirl'.
The costume was made by the same designer of WBTV/The CW's 'Arrow' and 'The Flash,' Colleen Atwood.
The three-time Oscar-winner Atwood told in an interview that, "In designing Supergirl, I wanted to embrace the past but more importantly, thrust her into the street-style action hero of today,"
He earned Oscars for "Into the Woods," "Snow White and the Huntsman" and "Sweeney Todd."
While many are happy with the released images, some fans showed their disappointment with the photos. The reason they did not like it boils down to one point that the images did not do the iconic character justice.
"The lighting choice for the reveal photos is strange; it's too dark to see details of the costume and makes the overall quality of the material look cheap. Melissa Benoist, the actress who plays Supergirl on the CBS show, looks a bit washed out and unrecognizable from other photos," reviewed by iDigalTimes.
The site, then, took the back pedal and said, "Still, the images don't speak for the state of the show. The CBS show is currently in process of tapping its pilot, and DC fans shouldn't be quick to dismiss Benoist."
Meanwhile, the 'Glee' star amd Oscar-nominated 'Whiplash' actress Melissa Benoist, who will play the main role 'Supergirl', has expressed her amazement with the photos via Twitter.
"THIS. I still can't believe I am wearing the House of El coat of arms. #supergirl #wbdctv pic.twitter.com/Nz6dNUR8fP" - Melissa Benoist (@itsmmbenoist) March 6, 2015
CBS has yet to announce the show's premiere date. But it will likely make a debut on CBS in Fall this year.
