Samsung Galaxy S5, Galaxy S6 Bugs Fixes: Clearing the Cache

By

Google has already unveiled Android 5.1 Lollipop update this week, yet its previous version the Android 5.0 Lollipop has just arrived to certain brands and units such as Samsung Galaxy S5 and S6. This arrival comes with certain issues - as it is always the case with OS or Android update - that can either be classified as a universal problem or an isolated one.

While those issues cannot be fully prevented, there are certain measures that Samsung handset owners can do to control the impact.

One is clearing Cache Partition. This option helps clears the cache of the handset be it Samsung Galaxy S5, S6, or older models like S4. The advantage of performing cache partition is that no single file will be deleted after such action. However, it is still recommended to have data backup before doing this because entering the wrong entry can result in another problem.

To clear the cache, turn off the handset first and turn it back on by pressing these keys at the same time: Power On/Off, Volume up, and Home Button. Once the handset vibrates, release the power on/off button, but keep the other two keys pressed until Android Recovery Screen appears.

Using the volume down key, navigate through the options until "Wipe cache partition" is found. Select it using the power on/off button.

After clearing the cache partition, reboot the device. Highlight and select the Reboot System Now using the power button. This will reboot the device.

Clearing the cache should make the phone perform better than before since this troubleshooting tip can fix most of the problems that comewith Android 5.0 Lollipop. Resetting the phone into factory mode is also recommended when clearing cache does not work.

These are basic but very useful troubleshooting tips that owners of Samsung Galaxy S6, S5, and S4 can find handy when fixing issues like Android 5.0 Lollipop update bugs.

Users of Samsung Galaxy S4 and S5 in Norway can also use this to retrieve the device's system before installing the Android update. It's been reported that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update in the region is put on hold due to problems encountered after installing the update.

Bugs encountered by Samsung Galaxy S5 users include WiFi issues, SMS problems, skipping music, and random rebooting. How the Android update will affect the performance of Samsung Galaxy S6 will not be known until its market release date on April 10.
